A woman's place is in the kitchen??

Came upon an intresting topic while chatting with some of my friends. A friend of mine was telling us on how her future mother-in-law kept on stressing that a woman should know how to cook and no matter how successful she is, her place is eventually in the kitchen. Poor gal was stuck and had to pretend that she was intrested in learning!

Of course I beg to differ!

A career woman myself, cooking is just secondary compared to everything else in my life. I do agree the fact that a woman should know how to cook, but at this era now, this particular question keeps running in my head. Why is it that ONLY women must learn how to cook? How about men? I believe they get hungry as well. No offense to all the guys out there, some of the guys friends that I have can cook even better than their spouses/partners. But the question is, why do we set a rule saying that only the women should learn how to cook?

I believe this links back to the practice hundreds and hundreds years ago where men hunt for food (since they are "supposed" to be stronger than women) and women cook the food.

But, we no longer hunt for food now, nor are women staying at home idling. Women also have their own career and life besides cooking! And we DO NOT need men to bring us back the food to cook!!

So there were we arguing with the guys how we should actually share the workload between and men and women and not just dump everything to the women. And I mean it seriously, why not share the workload?? Guys do get hungry rite? So why not cook the food as well??
My mother DID NOT know how to cook and learnt form my father after they got married. She has this recipe book where she used to write down recipes even for the most simplest dishes! I found it cute the fact that my dad taught my mum to cook. :P. Personally I would love it if my other half in future, helps me out in the kitchen. Not that I do not know how to cook, but it makes cooking a less burden chore. Not to mention extra quality time spent together. *wink*

So, for the gals out there who share my opinion, do not hesitate to ask you guys to help you along when you are cooking. Even better if the guys are willing to take turns with their partners to cook. Impossible as it may seem, its workable if there's interest! :-)

Cheers and have a nice day folks!
